„My Adventure at the Museum” is an international project that has been implemented for over 40 years, involving cultural and educational institutions around the world (including museums, galleries, schools, community centers, integration centers). They conduct out regional stages and at the finals, they send to the District Museum in Toruń selected works of art, the theme of which is a visit to the museum. The winners are selected from among the submitters – approx. 150 people who qualify for the international competition exhibition. From among these people, in five age categories and categories of people with disabilities, the Jury consisting of specialists awards prizes, supplemented with winners selected in a poll to the public. During the exhibition, visitors can vote for the artwork that they believe should be awarded. Online voting is conducted at the same time. There are also awards for teachers – art tutors of the winners. The aim of the project is to develop the imagination and aesthetic sensitivity of students and stimulate their intellectual and emotional development through various forms of creative activities; shaping the attitude of young recipients of active reception of works of art. It is also important to deepen the knowledge of children and young people about museum collections of various types. The multiculturalism and universalism of the project contribute to shaping attitudes of respect and tolerance for other cultures and traditions among the participants, and to increase international integration.
